The Willow Angel –by Jim Thornton 3/9/2005
Twas on a muggy Summer’s morn, that I awoke that day,
The insects hummed their merry tune, and the fields were full of hay,
I ventured down to the valley floor, where water danced and played,
The pebbles had a jamboree, and the willow gently swayed.
Twas underneath the branches, of the willow that I lay,
And chewed upon an ear of corn, and gazed upon the day,
How still the beauty lay around, and yet how busy too,
The animals and insects, the reeds in golden hue.
Twas round about that moment then, when wander my mind did,
And up I went a-floating from my body where it hid,
No aches and pains or grief had I, and light my essence flew,
And walked I did without a step, and peace was what I knew.
And where was I a-roaming, and how and why and who?
But onward I did wander, my course was strong and true.
I know not where I venture and yet I know I must,
And instinct is my guide today, my spirit must I trust.
And then I saw a willow, just like the one I knew,
Its branches were familiar, so too its golden hue,
I went beneath the branches, just as I often do,
And there I met an Angel, who smiled and beckoned too.
“Come sit with me”, the Angel said “and tell me of your dream,
Beneath my favourite willow, so peaceful and serene”,
“What will you know”, I mumbled, not knowing where to start,
“Just talk your truth, and just be sure, it comes straight from your heart”.
“Well every day I toil and strive, for what? I do not know,
I know not if I’m wrong or right, but onward I do go,
I lie beneath my willow, so similar to yours,
And hope that I will find the truth, and free myself of flaws.”
The Angel smiled, so warm and kind, I’m sure that me he knew,
Though I had not before seen Him, I also knew Him too.
“I understand your problem, your thoughts and feelings too,
Your plight is not uncommon, I’ll tell you what to do.”
“Live everyday with truth and joy, and fear not what you feel,
As what you feel is what you feel, it’s your truth, so is real.
But know that you are loved and liked, your problems we all share,
And seek to guide you everyday, just listen, and we’re there.
You see, this willow golden bright, who’s branches give us rest,
Is the same tree as the one you know, its true, I do not jest,
For though you travelled far and long to meet me here this day,
Beneath your tree is where I sat, and just a thought away.
So let us meet here once again, now you have found the way,
Just rest a while, where ‘ere you be, and think of me this way,
And we will talk and chatter, and burdens we will share.
Let all your troubles come to me, free yourself of care.
For I am here to guide you, to be your strength and shield,
So when you have a problem, just wander through your field,
And rest a while and talk to me, and things won’t seem so bad,
For every problem can be solved, we need not to be sad.
Our trouble comes when fear we have, and answers we have none,
But fear, it will not help us, so trust the deed be done,
The guidance comes, for it is known, the answers to all prayers,
The answers, they will come your way, and gone will be despair.
And as the answer passes by, be sure you are alert,
For if you do not hear it, feel it, see it, don’t be hurt,
For we will try another way until insight is taken,
Be patient now and trust in me, for no-one is forsaken.
I filled up with emotion, and energy so raw,
I can’t believe just what I heard, and what that day I saw.
And true it was that when I woke, beneath that tree I lay.
Though sure I was and I will swear, I’d wandered far away.
But trust I do and now I know, I’m guided and I’m led,
And everyday I smile with joy as I lay in my bed.
Each day now has new meaning, the spring is in my stride,
For I believe in Angels, though you may question why.
But what I know is what I know, and what I feel is too.
I feel an Angel by me, he’s someone kind and true.
And when I ask my Angel, what shall I do today,
I know that he will answer, my thoughts and feelings sway.
And oh what inspiration, jumps into my mind,
Now this path has opened, the door is open wide,
The ideas had I not before, but now they dance and play,
And I cannot keep pace with them, what shall I do today………?
I know that I am guided, to where I have most worth,
I know that I will feel my way, and approach my life with mirth,
For joy returns when good you feel, and warm and dry with rest,
And do I, what I do each day, knowing it’s my best!
