Channelled/Scribed Material on FC and Proximity Dependent Typing as a Teaching Tool.
I am asking the questions and listening to my inner voice. As always, I share authorship with the consciousness of people with autism, but accept full responsibility as I am not sure of the level of influence I project from my own knowledge base and bias. How would you define facilitated communication?
It is a method of putting an individual on the track, so to speak, often both physically and mentally. The facilitator sends out a dominant rhythm that we can adhere to. He often also provides physical support.
How does FC help to develop rational thought?
FC serves as a catalyst for untrained thought to organize itself for conscious expression. Adhering to the energy system of another helps us to calm down our own chaotic flow and express it in the context of physical reality. The facilitator opens the channel for this to occur. The facilitator must blend with the client in service and in love. In doing so, we begin to understand physical reality.
How would you suggest someone begin FC?
It depends on your purpose. Is your purpose to teach a non-verbal person with autism to lower his vibration in order to have a better conception of a sensory-dependent-ego based reality, and to help him comprehend and communicate in that domain? Then the approach would be different than if you, as the facilitator, were the student, joining with him to raise your ego-based vibration and access higher realms of consciousness.
When you are teaching, it is helpful is to structure your language system into meaningful subcomponents that are less vast than language in its totality. Teaching the children to think in categories, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs, helps them limit their field of possible responses. Classifications are also helpful — i.e. food, clothing, classroom supplies, actions or positional words. It is extremely difficult to bring forth the correct word from the vast array swimming about in our consciousness. Limit the field of possible choices, and we begin to form the structure needed for organized thought.
Realize that many of us are not able to assimilate, compare, contrast, integrate, assess, and transfer information, which are all necessary components of your language system. Our unbound free flowing thought lacks these parameters — yet many think that by providing us with simple communicative devices, we will intrinsically develop a sophisticated language structure. That just isn’t so! What is improved is the understanding of how typical people operate. This in turn alleviates some of the fear and anxiety. Please realize that you are an anomaly to us, just as we are to you. Once we begin to understand you and adhere to your rhythm, distress lessens and receptive language improves. We begin to operate as one unit, in tandem, so to speak.
Is FC worthwhile?
Yes, it is a way of accessing each other’s consciousness. It deepens the relationship of the parties involved. It creates a sense of balance. It expands the parameters of consciousness for both parties. It allows for mutual support and surrender. It slows us down and establishes a rhythm.
Sometimes I feel like a puppeteer! Am I causing any harm?
At times, you are a puppeteer. You are teaching us how to ride your thought patterns. It is but a component of the process; however, it is imperative to be honest with others and us. Not admitting the basic principles of the process and its limitations is deceptive and harmful.
How do you feel when a facilitators act as if all information is coming from you?
We are often used as puppets — nothing more than funnels of regurgitated material that does little for mankind and nothing for us. The gifts we have are being distorted rather than embraced. Oftentimes, we are told what to say by our partner. It saddens us that we are not accepted on our own. You see, we see the truth that you don’t see. We feel universal love and the joy of creation. We know you well, but feel you do not know us.
How do I keep that from happening?
Always be truthful. Explain to our parents and us what you are attempting to do and why.
How do I fade the process?
When you are teaching us, fade the process through repetition and reward. The word “typed” needs to be correlated to its pictorial representation, and eventually to concrete counterparts. Teach us to override your influence. On the other hand, when I am teaching you, just step back, relax and allow the material to flow.
Should independence be the goal?
Yes, independence of individual egos is a necessary experience for understanding physical reality. It is just as important as the concept of joining or blending, for man is ego incarnate. In time, it is hoped that we can experience both soul-connected unity and individualism.
Can you clarify the term “soul connected unity”?
Disengaged channels are suddenly all on the same wavelength; they are submerged in thoughts so freely flowing that the essence never stops — it just keeps regenerating all it touches. This is our dream and our reality.
