The Balance Labyrinth Concept

My name is Alan Cox and I am c/o author and creator with my late wife Jenny of The Balance Procedure (TBP), which is an accredited energy technique that is taught all over the world, visit

I started to create the Balance Labyrinth idea when I was attending a series of Mind Body Spirit Fayres showing TBP and came across many people who seemed to be completely stuck, with no idea what they wanted in life. Although I continued to get great results with using TBP I wondered if another approach maybe needed.

Prior to c/o creating TBP in 2007 I was being introduced to all types of holistic and spiritual practices, one being walking a Labyrinth and although being sceptical about just walking around a field, I was pleasantly surprised by how it made me feel.

Labyrinths are similar to Mazes but instead of having many false turns as is the case with mazes, labyrinths have only one way in and the one way out. They date back to the Middle Ages in Gt Britain and there is evidence they may have been around as far back as the Stone Age.

There has been renewed interest in labyrinths in more modern times with portable ones brought into prisons to be used for meditation purposes with prisoners, others can also be found in hospital gardens.

There are also many hand held labyrinths where you use your finger to trace the way around the path and these are very effective too. The idea is you enter the labyrinth with your problem, then follow the path to the centre, where you reflect on how you feel, then follow the path back out leaving your problem behind.

Each of us have literally thousand of beliefs, both positive and negative in our subconscious minds. We start to collect these from birth or even in the womb, babies can be influenced by the energy around them, and words such as be careful, keep baby safe and much more, can have huge effect.

Of course there are lots of positive influences as well, both these positive and negative beliefs are stacked up like glass lenses, some with dark lenses and others with clear lenses, these beliefs are added to and released throughout our lives. I call these beliefs Shadow Memories.

Trying to find which of these are causing you problems is virtually impossible and although TBP works very well, I’ve found sitting quietly with your handheld labyrinth for 5 to 10 minutes can be very beneficial.

The first thing you need to do is to understand that these Shadow Memories are real and have been influencing you for a long time, next generate an emotion about this fact, such as anger, frustration or even annoyance about the effect that it’s causing, now hold that emotion as you start using your Labyrinth.

1/ Trace your way around the path of the labyrinth and on the outside path as you are tracing towards the centre, pause at the TBP symbols, breathe deeply in and as you exhale say or think the word Balance, this is your anchor word.

2/ Stop at the centre and reflect on how you feel what’s the emotion you brought in like now, has it diminished or is it still there.

3/ Trace your way out start releasing all negative thoughts and as you are passing the remaining TBP symbols pause and say Balance at each one, as you are about to leave labyrinth try to feel grateful and give thanks.
You can repeat this process as often as you feel you need to.
